The 100 year old man who climbed out the window and disappeared

The 100 year old man who climbed out the window and disappeared

Written by Jonas Jonasson

This has been the book that my husband and I listened to as we drove around looking at houses and anytime we drove anywhere together.

The book is about the life of Alan Carlson. There are extreme moments and flashbacks that you wonder if they could have possibly happened. Especially when Alan was 100 year olds.

This audio did have lots of funny moments that did have me laughing. Though at some moments it did seem to go on forever.

There were times that I did get a little lost while listening to the story. It was hard to tell if we were in Alan’s future or his present which was 2005.

Pride & Prejudice

 Pride & Prejudice

by Jane Austen
Read by: Rosamund Pike

The 6 hour Pride and Prejudice has always been my favorite version of this movie. I have watched it multiple times. But that's it. I had only watched the movie. I had never read or listened to it.

I had tried to read this book at one point but it was so long and then just the language that was used in that time was really hard for me to actually get into the story and to keep going.

So I decided it was high time that I finally listen to Pride & Prejudice. It helped even more that it was free on audible. I loved it! This is one of my favorite stores now. Probably helped that I was able to picture what was going on as I listened.

It was read by Rosamund Pike. I feel like she sounds like Emma Thompson. She did a great job of doing all the different voices of the characters. She did such a great job with Mr. Collins voice. Making him so that you cringe every time that he talked or even wrote letters to the family.

My favorite part is always when Elizabeth realizes that she truly is in love with Mr. Darcy and she hopes that she maybe able to receive a second proposal from him. Also defies his aunt and tells her that she won't promise to not accept a proposal from him.

Would highly recommend listening to Pride and Prejudice if you have not already done so.

Ace of Hearts

 Ace of Hearts
By Ashtyn Newbold

I had started reading this book earlier in the year. I had a physical copy of it but the binding wasn't very good and I had started losing pages and so it made it really hard to read. I recently got a digital version and was able to read it.

I loved being able to read the story of Alice and Thomas. Being able to see that they both came to realize that love is more important then how much money someone has. That if you are truly happy with the person you chose that is all that matters.

"No, I think you can see it in a man's actions. If a man is willing to sacrifice, work and fight for the woman he loves, she will see his love without any words spoken."

There were so many times that we were able to see it through his different actions. It was nice to see them go from such a strong dislike for each other to being in love. It truly came unexpected for them both.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was just a fun filled and light hearted story.

Kiss The Girl

Kiss The Girl

By Melanie Jacobson
Release date: November 3, 2021

"A friendship pact?” I made a face like, Yikes. “Last time I made a pact with a friend, we spit in our hands and shook. And before you said your no-dating thing, I had a different idea for swapping spit.” She blushed slightly and blinked at me, the tiniest bit wine-muddled, I was guessing. “I’m fine with that being off the table, but I’m not doing the other spit thing either. The word pact makes me nervous.”
Grace set her glass down and slapped her thighs. “All right, so it’s blood then.”
“Uh...”
“Or maybe just a handshake without spit?”

This book was one of those where you just want to yell at the characters and be like just admit that you both like each other and make it work.

It's full of very fun twist and turns. Grace has plans to leave the town she grew up in and does not want to become involved with a man that has ties to the small town and deep roots.

“What was it with newly married people that they were always convinced all their single friends secretly wanted was to be married too? Ugh. But I leaned forward, like that was somehow going to let me hear the conversation at the front door better. I wanted to know what Noah thought about this.”

But they have a common friend who tries to get them set up. But then they had several friends who keep trying to get them together.

Such a perfect holiday read for Christmas! Recommend reading this one.
